EU wants to increase supply of gas from Azerbaijan - German media

Germany’s international broadcaster and one of the most influential international media outlets Deutsche Welle (DW) has published an article headlined “European Union wants to increase supply of gas from Azerbaijan”.

The article mentioned that Brussels sees Baku as the most important partner in ensuring security of gas supply.

The article quoted President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen as saying: “We will double the supply of gas from Azerbaijan to the European Union”.

“By doubling gas supplies from Azerbaijan, the European Union aims to compensate for cuts in supplies of Russian gas. A Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership in the field of energy between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union represented by the European Commission" was signed between Azerbaijan and the European Union during President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen’s visit to Baku on July 18. Under the document, the gas supply via the Southern Gas Corridor will be doubled within five years - at least 20 billion cubic meters of gas will be delivered to Europe every year from 2027,” the article said.
